We are very proud that our ICPO chair of our board of directors Vicki Mooney was one of these 58 commissioners involved in drafting this new criteria and recommendations which have been launched by the Lancet Commission.
Three years of hard work bringing the lived experience and guidance to the process is not an easy task and a vital one in ensuring all who live with obesity are represented and have our voices heard.
What is important is that publications are not just published and then forgotten about. We need to have these acted on, implemented, practised and taught to all who can use this criteria to improve the lives for those who live obesity.
- Weight is not the disease.
- BMI is not the disease.
- Obesity is multifactorial and complex and recurring.
Lets now put our words into practice and focus on health and quality of life.
