We are looking forward to sharing the lived experiences of people living with overweight or obesity regularly. If you have a story to share, contact us!
years ago I went to the Dublin Weight Management Service and began my journey with weight
loss. For context I started then at 160kgs. At my very first appointment I spent over 2 hours with the psycologist and I remember her telling me the team would not be in a position to help me fully as the few appointments that they offered would not be enough.
I found the group meetings at the Weight Management Service were 100 times more beneficial to me than the zoom meetings I now attend. The interaction of the “live” meeting was easier to follow, and I was better able to focus on the discussion. If I wanted to join in or ask a question I could do so easily. I’m a bit of a technophobe and not used to computers, I was less comfortable with the virtual meetings. Either way the Compassion Focus meetings were very important to me.
A Parents Perspective
"Our Sons Story"
Our son is a typical 7 year old boy, he is energetic, funny, kind, caring and never stops talking. He, like most 7 year olds, doesn’t have many worries in his life, except the usual things like how does he get more screen time and when can he hang out with his friends again. Unlike most 7 year olds he is living with obesity, but he does not realise this yet.
