SCHEME ANNOUNCED TO TACKLE OBESITY IN NORTHERN IRELAND
ICPO is delighted to see this long overdue advancement in obesity care in Northern Ireland.
Our colleague Fiona Quigley has worked tirelessly raising this issue with stakeholders for many years.
“It is very welcome to see Northern Ireland’s Regional Obesity Management Service finally moving forward. Many of us, including people with lived experience, clinicians, researchers and advocacy groups, have campaigned for this for years. This service matters because obesity is not simply a matter of “weight loss”. It is a chronic, complex and recurring condition, and many people need ongoing, compassionate, evidence-based support. I very much hope that people with lived experience will continue to be meaningfully involved in the design, delivery and ongoing development of the service. That involvement is not optional – it is vital”
